Maltassist is pleased to offer various types of diving courses through DIVE SYSTEMS.

Dive Systems was established in Malta in 1978 and boasts of excellent safety and friendly service records. A team of dedicated, experienced and friendly instructors and assistants ensures maximum satisfaction and safe diving.

Dive Systems, one of the first dive centres in Malta, is run by Louis and Paul Sciberras who have 30 years experience in the diving industry. In 2004 Dive Systems relocated to a purpose-built diver training facility. The new premises, just a few minutes walk from the town centre, are centrally located on the promenade in Sliema which is the leading holiday resort in Malta.

Opening Times
Dive Systems operates all the year round from Monday to Saturday, however opening hours are fairly flexible and arrangements can be made for Night dives as well as dives on Sundays and Public Holiday diving.

• Winter - 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
• Summer - 8.30 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.

Location
We are located at the water’s edge on the promenade in the centre of Sliema, a prime tourist centre with about 20,000 residents. It is a modern town with many hotels, cafes restaurants and a good shopping centre. It is also very close to the capital city Valletta (approx. 1 KM) and St. Julians, Paceville known for its cinemas, Casino, amusement halls discotheques and bars and restaurants( approx. 2 KM)

Non diving family or friends
These can relax on the beach area from which they can watch the day's activities. There is also a children’s playground and a public garden within a radius of 200 metres. Various restaurants and snack bars are within easy reach.

Dive School
Dive Systems is a government registered school and a member of the Professional Diving Schools Association.

Introductory Diving Courses
Get a taste of the Underwater world safely with DIVE SYSTEMS, by taking one of the following introductory courses. If you decide to follow a certification course any payment made and sessions covered will be deducted from the relative course.

• ½ day Taster session

  • Includes briefing and shallow dive

  • Maximum 5 meters
     

• ½ day BSAC Experience Scuba

  • Includes informal lecture and dive.

  • This will be considered as first module for BSAC Ocean Diver course.

  • A BSAC certificate and pack is awarded on completion.
     

• ½ day PADI Discover Scuba

  • The first dive of the Scuba Diver/Open Water Diver course.

  • Includes informal lecture and dive with basic exercises.

  • Medical check-up included.
     

• 2 half days PADI Discover Scuba Diving

  • Includes lecture and 2 dives with basic exercises.

  • PADI card included.
     

• 3 half days Introductory course

  • Includes briefing and gradual introduction to diving skills.

International Certificate Diving Courses

Return home as a fully qualified SCUBA Diver with enough experience to explore other fascinating dive sites around the world. We offer PADI Courses, CMAS Courses and BSAC Courses.

PADI Qualification Courses

The Professional association of Diving Instructors is the World's largest and most popular Diver training organization. Its certification are recognized throughout the world. They enable you to join their diving groups and take up where you left off.

• Open Water Diver (Min. 4 days)

  • This course is ideal for the holiday maker. It consists of:

    • confined water training sessions

    • 4 open water dives and audio visual lectures helped by an easily explained text book which makes the theory side of the course both enjoyable and easy to learn.
       

• Open Water Referral

  • The confined sessions and theory of the Open Water course can be started in one location/ country and the Open Water dives may be completed with Dive Systems. (Referral form signed by previous instructor is required)
     

• Advanced Open Water Diver (Min. 3 days)

  • A follow on course to the Open Water Diver

  • Giving additional experience such as:

    • Deep Diving,

    • Wreck Diving,

    • Low Visibility/Night Diving,

    • Boat Diving,

    • Search and Recovery, etc.

  • Course consists of 5 open water dives, plus tuition.
     

• Combi Open Water & Advanced Open Water Diver (min.7 days)
   

• RESCUE Diver (Min. 4 days)

  • A Course designed to give Advanced Open Water Divers more confidence by way of

    • open water and theory sessions in rescue skills,

    • life saving techniques,

    • accident management,

    • accident avoidance,

  • Medic First Aid certification or equivalent is a prerequisite.
     

• Emergency First Response Course (Min. 2 half days)

  • This is a lecture room course where audio visual programs in first aid , life saving, etc are shown, together with theory and practical sessions.
     

• Divemaster Course (Min. 14 days)

  • This is the first professional status within the P.A.D.I system.

  • The course involves active participation alongside the instructors whilst training student divers in both theory and practice, assisting in open water dives and coursework activities.

  • Prior to certification, the candidate will be assessed in watermanship and rescue skills and will be required to sit for a theory exam.

  • Professional membership with P.A.D.I. is extra.

  • Many worldwide dive centres employ Dive masters as Dive Guides.

PADI Specialty Courses

Have fun while you widen your under water experience and diving skills. Available to Open Water Divers except for Night, Deep and Wreck which can only be taken by Advanced Open Water Divers. You can save €20 on each specialty if you combine it with the AOWD course.

CMAS Qualification Courses

The CMAS is the world federation of underwater Activities. It includes National Federation Diving Centres and Clubs in more than 75 countries.

• C.M.A.S. 1 Star (Min. 4 days)
  • This certification is awarded to Divers who are competent in the safe and correct use of all appropriate open water SCUBA diving equipment.
  • The course consists of 8 water sessions and 7 classroom lectures.
     
• C.M.A.S. 2 Star (Min. 6 days)
  • The 2 star Diver is a diver with open water diving experience and is considered capable of taking part in dives partnered by a diver of at least the same or higher grade.
  • The course consists of 10 training and dive sessions and 7 lectures covering navigation, night diving, deep diving and rescue.

BSAC Qualification Courses

BSAC stands for British Sub Aqua Club, the world's biggest diving club. It is one of the most respected diving organizations in the world with a reputation for the excellence of its diver training program.

• BSAC Ocean Diver (min. 6 days)
  • Theoretical sessions
  • 5 confined in-water skills development including a swimming test and basic lifesaving techniques
  • 5 open water dives

This is the BSAC entry level course. At this level no club membership is required.

The BSAC Ocean Diver Pack is required. This includes a student video, study book, divers logbook, qualification record book, decompression tables and the BSAC Sports Diving manual.

• BSAC Sports Diver 6 days
  • Consists of Lectures and 5 open water dives
  • This is a follow on course to BSAC Ocean Diver
  • BSAC Membership is required

   

• Combi BSAC Ocean + Sports Diver 11 days  

BSAC Dive Leader , Advanced Diver and Skill Development courses are also available on request.
